Lainy and Gian both studied at Baylor University for their undergraduate degrees and had many mutual friends. One night Lainy went out out to a bar with one of her girlfriends where she ran into a mutual friend who introduced her to Gian. Gian reminisces first seeing “a gorgeous girl in a pink wheelchair partying like it was her birthday.” After that first meeting they met everyday at lunch – the only time Gian had available because of his immense school work load. By spring, the duo was inseparable.
The Thanksgiving break of 2015, following spending the holiday in Philadelphia with Lainy’s mother’s family, Gian and Lainy took a trip to New York City for the weekend. Gian made reservations at The Benjamin Hotel on Lexington Ave. When they arrived at the hotel, the room wasn’t ready, so they explored NYC while they waited. They came back to get ready before heading to The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway that night, but the room still wasn’t ready. Luckily the hotel let them get ready in another room and assured them theirs would be ready by the time they were back from the play. Lainy was so confused as to why Gian was so set on a specific room, and he assured her that he wanted to make sure it was a wheelchair accessible. Once back from the show, they finally had access to their room. Gian ran in first “to make sure everything was wheelchair accessible,” but when he opened the door, there were candles and rose petals leading out to the balcony. In reality Gian had made the reservation to have the terrace suite with the balcony view. He led Lainy out to the rose petal-covered balcony and proposed.
Lainy and Gian will be married in December next year at an old train station with a burgundy and gold wedding. Thanks to Travis Hallmark Co. for sharing their darling engagement photos and story with us! We just knew this one was something special. Cheers to the future Mr. & Mrs!
