ELLEN + CONNOR

Two Accountants

Connor and I have been friends since freshman year of college, however we didn’t become “official” until after he graduated, 4 YEARS LATER!! I guess you can say our relationship was built on a very sturdy foundation. Years passed and our relationship grew stronger and stronger, and we began to plan our future together. We both work in public accounting so getting married in the first part of the year is out of the question due to our busy season. I had it in my head that we would get married Fall 2020, and I told Connor I wanted a year-long engagement. As the weeks went by during Fall 2019 with no proposal my anxiety level grew, and I started over-analyzing Connor’s every move (like every girl eagerly waiting a proposal does). One unsuspecting Friday afternoon in November, my friend Jordan organized a rooftop happy hour to show one of our visiting college friends a fun “Dallas” time. I initially hated the idea of going to this bar as it was on the opposite side of the city, but Jordan convinced me the view was worth it. I reluctantly agreed but posed the idea of making this a girl’s night so we could really catch up on life without the boys in our group hanging around. This is when Jordan and Connor secretly freaked out because I just uninvited Connor to his own engagement! LOL! Ultimately Jordan just ignored me and invited the boys, and the plan was back in place. I showed up in my work clothes with essentially no make-up on, and that’s when everyone was certain I had no idea what was going on. As the sun was setting, our group began to take pictures in front of the skyline view. Connor and I went to take our picture together and then all of a sudden, he was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. I FREAKED! I was so shocked the only response I could get out was “wait, really?”. It was truly the best moment of my life, which got even better when all our family and friends rushed up to the rooftop afterwards to surprise me! I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect proposal and celebration with all our favorite people!
