We’re totally swooning over this elegant al-fresco engagement session from Penelope L’amore Photography, and the sweet proposal story that precedes it! Jennifer and DJ ventured to McKinney Falls State Park for this shoot, with their wardrobe choices playing off the woodsy green and dark blue hues of the waterfalls in winter. Jennifer’s bold blue gown paired with DJ’s sport coat made for an elegant aesthetic against the natural backdrop. The couple looks so in love, and Penelope captured their emotions so beautifully! How DJ proposed: “He had closed on a home that morning and suggested that we celebrate that evening after I got off of work. So four o’clock came, and I texted him that I was on my way. Mid-drive he texted me that he forgot the champagne and was heading to the store, but had left the door unlocked for me to enter. So I get to the house, I do not see his car, so I proceed by opening the door. A rose petal flies out. I slowly continue opening the door and to my surprise, I see a trail of rose petals, candles and pictures leading towards the kitchen/living area. Right at that moment, I thought to myself, it is happening… right now! As I walked to the kitchen, I see more rose petals, more candles and more pictures. On the kitchen island, he placed The Bible opened to Proverbs 18:22: ‘He who finds a wife, finds what is good and receives favors from the Lord.’ He also had placed an iPad in which he had a video ready for me to watch. After I pressed play, I see him – he recorded a virtual tour of the house where he called it OUR home. He went through each room and gave his vision of us filling the home with love, family, friends but most importantly with the Grace of God. He ended the video with expressing his feeling towards me. At this point, I am covered in tears and other stuff that wouldn’t make any lady look pretty. As my friends describe it, the ‘ugly Kim cry,’ but it was a good cry. As soon as the video was over, he walks out of a room, in his suit, and knelt down. ‘Jennifer, will you marry me?’ A thousand times, yes!”
What they’re looking forward to most about the wedding: “Writing our own vows. Nothing better than authentic words coming from the heart and making eternal promises to one another.
Oh, and the sweets table! I have a huge sweet tooth. My fiancé is from Mexican heritage, so we will incorporate Mexican candy along with ‘pan dulce’ (sweet bread) and ‘chocolate abuelita’ (dark hot chocolate). And to not mention, our cakes are going to be delish! Find me at the sweets table!”
