Kaitlin and Barrett first met in the fall of 2009. Both were attending college at the University of Richmond where they became casual acquaintances. It wasn’t until their junior year that the two really connected. While participating in a study abroad program, they packed up their lives and moved to Brisbane, Australia; it was here that they sparked a connection. They started seriously dating after college while beginning their careers in Richmond. Because Barrett knows how close Kaitlin is to her family, he knew it was important to have them involved with the proposal. Just after moving to Austin, Kaitlin’s family decided to spend Christmas with them. One afternoon, Barrett miraculously got everyone up to Mount Bonnell where he popped the question. With photographers and champagne hiding in the bushes, Barrett got down on one knee and asked Kaitlin to marry him; of course, she said yes!
