Give Us All the Dreamy Vibes from this Intimate Backyard Wedding

Christina and Andrew’s intimate backyard wedding might have been smaller than they had originally planned, but it was in no way lacking sheer elegance! When COVID-19 forced this couple to make the heartwrenching decision to postpone their wedding, they started thinking outside the box. The talented photographers at Feather & Twine captured all the dreamiest moments from this effortlessly chic day where modern design and gorgeous florals steal the show. Wedding guests who were able to attend stayed nearby in the luxe accommodations of Fairmont Austin. Bride Christina says their decision to scale down wasn’t an easy one to make, but they came to find it was the right choice for them. “Our wedding was originally scheduled for April 4, 2020,” Christina said. “We made the decision to cancel due to COVID-19 about three weeks out. It was heartbreaking – We were so close. Our original wedding was going to be lavish and big, about 180 guests.”

“Having to cancel felt like we were being robbed – but we couldn’t put everyone we loved at risk.”

“So we canceled and toyed with moving it to 2022. But by this point… The thought of planning another event was too much. We also desperately wanted to be married! So we made a sharp right turn, and decided to get married at Andrew’s parent’s backyard.” Andrew’s parents live in the beautiful, modern west Austin home seen below that they designed and built in 2017. Featured in the AIA Austin Home Tours and one of Christina and Andrew’s favorite places to be, it made perfect sense for their intimate backyard wedding! There were only 11 guests at the wedding itself where the two exchanged heartfelt vows, heard a poem reading, and were married by their closest friends. They followed the personal ceremony with a socially distant reception in the front yard with the wedding party, around 28 guests. Think a la carte cocktail hour and COVID-safe dining, like takeaway fried chicken biscuits and biscuit cinnamon rolls for each couple in attendance! Throughout the entire elegant affair, The McKellars captured sweet candid scenes that played out in this intimate backyard wedding for the newlyweds to enjoy time and time again. Keep scrolling to see the video highlight and read on for a note from the bride about her favorite wedding vendors and what made them so special. Cheers to Christina and Andrew!

From the bride on her most helpful vendor: “Kelsey with Feather & Twine is a total boss. She managed the timeline, the other vendors, relatives, and working during a pandemic with grace and ease. Anytime I asked a panicked question, with no hesitation, she responded with exactly what I needed to hear. She knows what she’s doing and she was truly a source of calm. Talon with Feather & Twine is a source of joy. He gets along with everyone and makes everyone laugh. His easygoing nature kept me relaxed and having a good time. Kelsey and Talon capture authentic moments artistically and skillfully. Choosing Kelsey and Talon was the best wedding decision we made.”
