Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Austin, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.
This month, we’re spotlighting a Fairytale wedding. Shameem and Lance said “I do” on December 8, 2024.
The Wedding Day
Shameem and Lance’s wedding day was truly unforgettable. Shameem looked like a real-life princess in her stunning ballgown, while her bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses that perfectly complemented the floral color palette. She chose a timeless makeup look with soft, classic waves that beautifully highlighted her natural beauty. Each bridesmaid carried a mini bouquet—a trend we’re absolutely obsessed with!
Meanwhile, Lance got ready with his groomsmen in the suite, sporting a classic tuxedo that never goes out of style. Their emotional first look had us happy-crying—especially seeing the way Lance looked at her, straight out of a Cinderella story.
The outdoor ceremony embraced a simple floral design, ensuring all eyes were on the couple. In a heartfelt nod to their Black American heritage, Shameem and Lance jumped the broom, adding a beautiful layer of meaning to their vows.
After the ceremony, guests were welcomed into the mansion, where photos of the couple and their families were thoughtfully displayed throughout the space. For seating, guests found their names and table numbers in miniature gold frames—such a charming and personal touch. Phox Events helped bring Shameem and Lance’s vision to life.
As the sun set, guests gathered for a romantic, tented, candlelit dinner. The space was warmed by Premiere Events’ heaters—perfect for the cool winter air—and brought to life with bright linens from Bright Events and lush pink and purple tablescapes. Eye-catching floral installations added just the right pop of color, while the checkered dance floor from Quest Events set the scene for a night full of dancing and celebration. The energy was unmatched, and the love in the air was palpable—every detail adding to the magic of the day.
What is One Thing You Learned From Your Wedding?
Was Culture or Heritage Part of Your Wedding Celebration?
“We honored our Black American heritage with the tradition of “jumping the broom” during our ceremony. Lance’s family began this tradition many years ago and we wanted to keep it alive. We appreciated the symbolization of sweeping away the old and welcoming a new life together. It was the best way to celebrate the legacy of our ancestors and our new beginning. One of our favorite photos was taken right after we jumped the broom. The feeling of joy, accomplishment, and hope in that moment was remarkable.” – Shameem + Lance
Tell Us Your Favorite Wedding Day Memory:
“Our friends and family were at the heart of so many highlights of the day. We were in awe of the amazing speeches given by both of our brothers, the way everyone joined the dance floor at some point, and how someone was always there to keep our glasses full! The rainy days and chilly temperatures earlier in the weekend were all forgotten when the sun peaked out right before our ceremony. We had the best time letting go and being swept up into the magic of the day!” – Shameem + Lance
