Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Austin, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

January’s Vows that Wow features a wedding inspired by a fall garden party. Full of colorful, unique details, this wedding incorporates both modern and vintage touches throughout. Read on to discover Kristy and Shane’s vibrant nuptials!

How the Couple Met

Kristy and Shane’s romance begins the way many modern love stories do — with a dating app! Drawn in by Shane’s kind eyes, Kristy swiped right. Shane, curious about the Texas woman with big curls, took a chance with his Hinge match.

After two rescheduled dates, Shane waited patiently to take Kristy out. When the moment finally came, the two hit it off. Dinner, drinks and great conversation made for a memorable first date — one worth waiting for! Both parties left excited to get to know each other better.

Although Shane wasn’t living in Austin full-time, he had a wide open schedule. By the end of the night, he locked down a second date with Kristy. What followed was the beginning of their life together. On October 20, 2023, the couple said yes to forever and have since begun their lives of love, laughter and adventure — a dream come true!

The Wedding Day

The day began with Kristy and her bridesmaids getting dolled up by Sunny Hair and Makeup Artistry. After a tender first look and a touching ceremony, the couple celebrated their union with friends and family. Kristy and Shane’s wedding incorporated vintage and modern elements in a distinct way. Their vision was made possible by the experts at Loot Rentals and plenty of thrift finds!

“We had so many special and unique touches. … I found some vintage brass butterflies in a Georgetown thrift store early on in the planning process on the day we booked the venue,” writes the bride. “Butterflies seemed fitting since fall is monarch season and because they represent change, transformation, comfort, hope and positivity.”

Along with bird, butterfly and floral accents were linens provided by BBJ Tavola and a delicious meal catered by SoHo Catering & Consulting. The two love birds finished the evening with a night of dancing before their final send off. Thanks to their planner at Betts & Co, the happy couple had the wedding day of their dreams!

Kristy & Shane’s Favorite Detail

“SO excited about the patterned dance floor — a watercolor artist used our dinner napkin pattern and colors as inspiration. It was a one-of-a-kind showstopper and made for the perfect place to dance the night away!”
