Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Austin, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

For April, we’re showcasing a vintage, garden-inspired wedding. Soft shades of blush, sage and French blue contrast with bold shades of burgundy, terracotta and belladonna blue in these autumnal nuptials. Designed with a Dutch master style palette, Shanay and Jenny’s big day is sure to wow!

How the Couple Met

Shaney and Jenny’s love story is one of serendipity. While working at her sister’s flower shop, The Vintage Bouquet, Jenny popped into a local coffee shop across the street for an afternoon pick-me-up. While there, Jenny spotted Shanay. “I noticed her immediately, and while waiting for our orders to be called out, I playfully asked if she had purchased a drink for me as well, as I noticed she had two,” Jenny writes.

Though Jenny received a dry response back from her future wife, the brief interaction sparked a conversation that lasted three and a half hours! “As sister to the owner and manager of the flower shop, a three-hour break was allowed that day,” writes Jenny. The rest, as they say, is history! Shanay and Jenny tied the knot on November 12, 2023.

The Wedding Day

Shanay and Jenny’s wedding was planned and designed around a rainy-day aesthetic. Though the couple didn’t expect showers, they added a special touch to a day surrounded by greenery and florals.

Thanks to The Vintage Bouquet, there was no shortage of beauty. “Shanay loves Muscari flowers because they remind her of her childhood, so we made sure to include those,” writes Jenny. Along with the unique bell-shaped blooms, pink, peach and white flowers sprouting out of the gravel lined the aisle. “Ashley helped with every single detail and ultimately designed the overall look of our most special day,” says Jenny.

After their ceremony, the couple and their guests settled in for dinner and a movie. “Shanay and I are not big dancers so we opted for a fun movie night in the greenhouse after our reception,” writes Jenny. “Roman Holiday played amongst candlelight and comfy vintage lounge seating.” Along with a hot meal, guests enjoyed a geometric cake by 2tarts Bakery.

With help from their wedding coordinator at Scarlet Rose Events, Shanay and Jenny’s vision came to life and the day went smoothly despite the rain! “By the end of the night we were filled with so much love and joy we could hardly contain our smiles,” Jenny writes.

Shanay & Jenny’s Favorite Moment

“We chose to exchange vows privately and that was incredibly special and intimate. The spot we chose was tucked away under a lovely fruiting tree. The rain, while challenging and unexpected, ultimately created a warm and magical element that could not have been manufactured.”
