One of the most popular times to tie the knot is in the summertime, but let’s be honest – that Austin heat can be killer! In order to stay cool in the heat of summer, an indoor wedding is a must. With so many reasons to go take your celebration inside, it’s no surprise that we enlisted The Driskill to share their indoor wedding tips and tricks! Read on for the luxe venue’s helpful advice from wedding specialist Kristin Prindle!
Beat the Heat and Rain Stress
When you plan an indoor wedding, there’s no need to worry about bad weather or rain ruining your day! You will have everything well-protected from the outdoor elements. “It’s so important to love your venue,” says Kristin, “It becomes a part of your life-long memories and the backdrop for each cherished photo. The fact of the matter is, that most brides don’t feel the same way about their backup plan. With an indoor wedding, your plan A is the only plan and can be perfectly designed to how you envision it.” Not only will your venue stay safe from the rain, wind or treachery outside – but temperature controlled rooms are much more appreciated during those hot Texas summers. Stay cool and have a stress-free wedding when you opt for indoors!

Have Your Outdoor Decor, Indoors
You might think having an outdoor wedding provides more of a blank canvas for your wedding day, but the outdoors can always be brought in! When you choose an outdoor wedding, your backdrop is often limited to one or two views. A historic property has countless unique photo opportunities to showcase your big day. Choose from a grand staircase, beautiful stained glass doorways and ceilings, a rustic Texas bar and iron statue, an opulent lobby – the list goes on! It’s often easier to customize your décor and transform a space through lighting and drapery. Florals and greenery can also be added to bring nature into your space. “Nature is beautiful, so bring those elements inside with your decor. I enjoy seeing greenery on walls and columns, cascading floral centerpieces, edible flowers on cakes and more!” The possibilities are endless!

Save on the Costs
Engaged couples can often save a lot of money when holding their Austin wedding in the summer.“When hosting an outdoor wedding, you have to take into account all of the additional costs such as a tent, AC units, lighting, flooring, etc.,” says Kristin, “These items add up very quickly and can often go over your initial budget. When planning an indoor wedding, you don’t have to worry about many of these unexpected costs.” You will also see lower venue rental fees, food and beverage minimums, and lower hotel room rates for the couples and their guests. Overall, we would call that a win-win and something worth saying yes to!
