Sarah Schur and Gavin Todes Fall Austin Wedding by Barbara’s Brides

PERFECT PROPOSAL: On a hot air balloon ride as the sun rose over wine country in Sonoma Valley, Gavin handed the pilot his camera before getting down on one knee. As blissfully unaware Sarah urged Gavin to pose for the picture, he popped the question. The moment was surreal as Gavin asked the love of his life to be his wife. The rest of the flight was a dream, filled with lots of giggles and tears of joy.

SETTING THE SCENE: The Mansion is a beautiful Jeffersonian-style estate. It has a large ballroom with a bandstand at one end, which Sarah and Gavin’s band put to great use. The couple loved the courtyard and was hoping to have an outdoor ceremony there, but decided last-minute to move the ceremony inside due to rain.

THE CAKE: Their cake was a four-tier cake from Polkadots Cupcake Factory with buttercream icing. The layers from bottom to top were mixed berry chardonnay, triple chocolate, lemon cream and strawberry cream. The icing pattern alternated by layer between Swiss dots and horizontal rustic strokes. Sarah and Gavin’s florist further decorated the cake with scattered natural blooms and a floral topper.

DELICIOUS DISHES: Royal Fig Catering did a tremendous job with Sarah and Gavin’s catering. The food was exceptional, as was their service. Dinner service consisted of roast butternut squash salad with hazelnut and manchego, beef tenderloin with truffle mash and arugula, seared striped bass with celery root puree, Brussels sprouts, whole roasted heirloom carrots with carrot-top pesto, and rosemary and sea salt focaccia. To finish off the evening with a late-night snack, Sarah and Gavin had potato egg and cheese, veggie, and brisket and egg breakfast tacos.
