A Rustic Texas Wedding and an Unexpected Meet Cute

The story of this rustic Texas wedding started with an unexpected meet cute. In 2016, Megan’s family decided to visit her aunt in Houston for Thanksgiving. As they were paying a visit to her aunt’s neighbor, Dan walked into the house, flowers in hand. Unfortunately, the flowers weren’t for Megan, they were for the neighbor’s mother! Dan, a football player for the Houston Texans, was spending thanksgiving with his teammate and his family. “As I walked in the door, expecting to be greeted by my teammate, and I see Megan with her family,” said Dan. “I introduced myself and couldn’t keep my eyes off of her. I had brought flowers for my teammate’s mom because I didn’t want to show up empty handed. I wanted so badly to give the flowers to Megan but thought that might be a little too aggressive.” Little did they know that later he would be handing her an engagement ring instead!

The couple’s wedding day started with a bridesmaids’ brunch and mimosas! That afternoon, the ceremony was performed in a Catholic church, and the bride and groom were wrapped with a lasso in the shape of a rosary to honor the bride’s Spanish culture and ensure protection of the union. The bride stunned in a beautiful lace gown, and the groom looked dapper in his navy suit. Aurelia Baca Photography beautifully captured the pure love and joy the couple radiated throughout the day. The couple kept things classic with white florals and a mixture of blush and champagne toned bridesmaids dresses and added a little bit of Texas flair along the way. Decor from Marquee Rentals added modern touches that wowed. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness for the adorable couple! Keep scrolling to read one of the bride’s favorite memories from the day!

From the bride recalling a moment she won’t forget: “One of my favorite memories of that night was my father-daughter dance with my dad. We danced to a re-mix of ‘My Little Girl’ by Tim McGraw and ‘Johnny Cash’ by Jason Aldean. The crowd went wild when we switched to Johnny Cash, because everyone who knows my dad knows he breaks out dancing solo to this song. A memory I won’t forget!”
