THEIR STORY: Rachel and Matthew laugh about how their first meeting was incredibly ironic and cliché at a bar. Rachel didn’t want to go out that night, but her friends convinced her. One of Matt’s friends approached Rachel, and asked if she would like to play skee ball with them. When she agreed to play, the friend disappeared leaving Matt and Rachel to talk. It was Matt’s persistence that won Rachel over, and after four months, they started dating!
PERFECT PROPOSAL: Rachel and Matt take an annual Thanksgiving vacation to New York. One of their favorite traditions is the hunting trip with Matt’s friends and family. The sun was setting as Matt and Rachel were sitting and talking in the woods. Matt began to talk about their future together, which lead to his proposal. By the end of the proposal their toes were numb, but it didn’t matter to them. It was the perfect moment!
SAVORY SWEETS: Sweet Treets Bakery created a small three-tier cake with clean lines and accents of pink dahlias and soft colored succulents. The cake sat on a bed of greenery and was topped with a wood carved “Mr. & Mrs.” The flavor of the cake alternated between Madagascar citrus vanilla and OMG chocolate with white citrus vanilla buttercream. The cake was OMG good!
SPECIAL TOUCHES: Matt built a large wooden sign with the couple’s married monogram to place on the mantle of the fireplace at the reception. Rachel trusted his skills and taste, so she let him run with this little project. It ended up being better than she imagined! All of their guests loved the unique piece, and the best part is that it now hangs in the couple’s new house!
