Rain Couldn’t Stop the Vivid Colors + Disco Details in this Modern Wedding
by Brynlee Handy October 4
Ella and Michael had a nontraditional engagement, so they thought to carry that energy over into their whimsical modern wedding full of vivid colors and disco details that will leave you ready to slip on your dancing shoes! Like so many, these two were a Bumble success story and after a fun first date, Michael invited Ella to go to dinner by boat on Lake Austin in the middle of July. What a dream! When things got more serious, Michael asked Ella one Saturday morning to go run errands with him like they used to before quarantine. She had no idea the trip would actually be to the jewelers to design her dream ring! After this, the pair reserved their venue Lucky Arrow Retreat and planner Blue Sparrow Events before actually getting engaged! The couple wanted something to look forward to in the midst of a global pandemic, so they kept it all a secret until the ring was on her finger – When you know, you just know.
Alanis Morissette’s “Isn’t It Ironic” and its lyrics, “It’s like rain on your wedding day” became the running joke of their trendy and tasteful affair featuring bold, saturated hues accented with lavender and contrasting sharp black. The precipitation came down all weekend long, but right before the ceremony, it finally let up like a sign from above and Caitlin Rose Photography captured every detail. The pair said “I do” in front of everyone they love most and then ate, drank, and danced their way into the night with the help of catering and bartending services from Royal Fig Catering, making for a truly magical event. Its chic and colorful mod-minimal design steal our attention and our hearts, emulating an artsy oasis in the middle of Texas Hill Country and preface with invitations and hand-scripted calligraphy by Design to Flourish for guests to enjoy before the big day arrives. Mod black décor and rentals from Premiere Events are the perfect change of pace from organic textures and vivid colors like those seen in asymmetrical floral installations from The Bloom Bar. This blending of elements goes so far for modern wedding inspiration and goes so well with all its daring disco details. Read on for a note from the bride about her dream wedding maker and what set them apart from the crowd while planning this whimsical modern wedding. Cheers to the new Mr. and Mrs. Thibodeau!
