SWEET BEGINNINGS: Alex’s roommate in Washington, D.C., arranged a dinner with some of her college friends, and she roped Alex into going with her. Although Alex was dragging her feet at first, she was soon happy she came when she was seated across the table from Adam, who had also been invited at the last minute. The two immediately knew they had stumbled upon something special, and their relationship grew carefully and steadily.
PERFECT PROPOSAL: While they were still living in Washington, D.C., Alex was under the impression that Adam was in Spain for work. Little did she know, he was actually traveling to Houston to pick up an engagement ring he helped design. That night, he surprised Alex outside her house with the ring and a proposal, and had two of her girlfriends capture it all on camera. After Alex said yes, the couple celebrated at their favorite restaurant.
HUES SHE USED: Central Texas sunsets inspired the couple’s romantic color scheme. Although Alex’s family is originally from Texas, she spent the majority of her life living elsewhere. Now that she is back, being able to see the striking Texas sunsets so often feels like a treasure.
THE SPARKLE: Alex wore her grandmother’s ornate wedding band that her grandmother designed in the 1980s after retiring the original band she received at age 15. Alex also wore the original band on her pinky finger as well as a simple sapphire bracelet designed by one of her dear friends who is a jewelry designer in Brooklyn.
SPECIAL TOUCHES: Since Alex’s family lived in Scotland, a Scotch bar was offered at the wedding. Alex created a display to accompany it, marking where each of the Scotches originated from on a map of Scotland.
