Moody Outdoor Wedding Walkthrough with Pearl Events Austin
November 14
While we love perusing beautiful wedding after beautiful wedding, it’s always so fascinating to hear the ins-and-outs of the planning process! King protea, rose velvet accents and late night tacos were just some of the favorite details that made up Amber and Trevor’s memorable celebration. Their love of God was reflected in a deeply moving ceremony and then followed by a relaxing happy hour and fun-filled reception. Each space in the venue was utilized to its fullest. The groom’s birthday weekend was recognized with a special birthday cake complete with celebratory sparkler candles, and guests danced the night away to end the evening! Read on as Austin wedding planner Kelly Bottoms from Pearl Events Austin shares her insider tips and notes in this Wedding Walkthrough of Amber and Trevor’s moody outdoor wedding!

From the planner: “People are often afraid of ‘moody’ colors or being too dark. I loved being able to step outside the box and bring in some new color palettes! Amber and Trevor wanted their wedding to be beautiful, have great food and end with a giant dance party! They weren’t overly stressed about what was going to happen every minute, but wanted guests to enjoy themselves.”
“Amber and I worked closely together on the overall design and vendor selection for florals and rentals. The florals played the biggest role in bringing the vision to life. Becky at Bouquets of Austin was the perfect fit for this wedding! Amber and I had complete trust in her to execute exactly what we had discussed and incorporate anything she thought would enhance the look.”
“We kept the ceremony décor minimal, with a brass arbor adorned with florals. Three ring bearers preceded Amber’s entrance, one of whom was just learning to walk which made for a very cute scene!”
“Following the ceremony, guests headed to the Butterfly Garden for Cocktail Hour. After a stationed dinner and toasts, guests moved to the Chapel for first dances. The DJ got everyone on the dance floor with a heavily rap playlist.”
“Amber would say, ‘my Pinterest board makes me look so dark and depressing!’ In reality, Amber is the opposite of that. She wanted the wedding to be unique and incorporate natural elements. We initially had other napkins ordered, but I couldn’t stop thinking about rose velvet napkins. Amber had a TON of velvet on her Pinterest board, so I knew she had to have them. It didn’t take much to convince her, and Becky at Bouquets of Austin wrapped them with brown leather and added foliage and florals for an extra touch.”
From the bride: “I am what you would call a chill bride — I had a simple vision and Kelly Bottoms at Pearl Events Austin executed it. I learned to skip all the learning and hire a wedding planner who knows everybody in the wedding circuit. She exceeded every expectation of my vision and also became my friend through the process.”
