Modern Austin Wedding at The W Captured by Dustin Meyer | Lauren + Dale
September 7
SWEET BEGINNINGS: Lauren and Dale met in an entrepreneurship class in the business school at Texas State University. They started a fake business together for their class project and really hit it off. Timing was not in their favor, but they remained friends post-graduation. Dale rekindled the relationship and invited Lauren to an office Christmas party in San Antonio followed by celebrating New Years together in Dallas. The next day they officially became a couple, and the rest is history!
PERFECT PROPOSAL: After a weekend in San Antonio celebrating a friend’s birthday, Dale suggested they head back home to Austin to go on a hike. They drove home, changed clothes, then headed out to Mt. Bonnell for the day with a friend. When they got to the top, the friend told them to pose for a picture when really he was recording. Dale began his proposal speech as he got teary-eyed, and told Lauren he loved her. He grabbed the ring and asked her to marry him. She said yes, making it the sweetest, most unforgettable day!
THE SETTING: Lauren and Dale had a non-traditional, modern black and white wedding at the W Austin. Black cocktail attire was required for their guests. They had giant black and white balloons that filled the room during the cocktail hour, and giant Jenga and cornhole were set up for entertainment during the reception!
DELICIOUS DISHES: The food and drink was by far one of Lauren and Dale’s favorite parts of the wedding! They served a signature cocktail, the MosKorth Mule, a spin on the Moscow Mule with added cucumber. The appetizers included mini Maine lobster rolls, candied pork belly on smoked cheddar croquet, tuna tartar in a cone, parmesan gnocchi and a full out sushi and sashimi bar. During the reception a three-course meal was served. The W Austin prepared a mixed green salad with warm chevre goat cheese dressing and the guest’s choice between vanilla bourbon braised beef short rib, pan seared chicken breast or roasted vegetable lasagna roll. The wedding cake was vanilla-based with fresh cut strawberries and vanilla Bavarian cream. The groom’s cake was a Texans chocolate-based cake!
