Both involved in the Greek community at Florida Atlantic University, Mary and Tate met through mutual friends and kept a strictly platonic relationship, until they one day realized they were actually the perfect match after a beach date over one of their favorite treats: ice cream!

Tate’s Navy active duty took the couple up north to their current residency in Washington, D.C. On a special weekend in October, Mary’s parents decided to come up for a visit, so Tate immediately put a plan into action for an unforgettably sentimental proposal. The foursome took a drive to Annapolis with a planned stop at a national park, where an unsuspecting Mary would shortly be saying “YES” to her college sweetheart! Down by the water, Tate got on one knee with Mary’s parents present for a surprise proposal moment to remember forever!

The couple will travel back to Austin for their wedding at Emmaus Catholic Church on November 10, followed by a reception at The Vista on Seward Hill. Their wedding will have a vintage and romantic feel, incorporating the use of wine and blush hues in the floral and decor. The detail they’re most excited for? An ice cream sundae bar catered by Amy’s Ice Creams to share a sweet piece of their story with all of their family and friends! Cheers to these soon-to-be newlyweds!
