Let’s Talk Budget
What does your budget management look like?
For me, budget management starts at the consultation. We assess the client’s wants and needs and the established budget or even help to establish a wedding budget. I also provide a spreadsheet that keeps your wedding expenses organized while tracking your budget. Your package level determines our involvement during that process.
What factors do you consider when allocating the wedding budget?
I like to get with my clients to establish their must-haves and necessities for the wedding, any venue information and catering interests. At times, we’re hired at the beginning stage or after the venue or other vendors have been contracted, so a combination of all of that information will give me the insight to allocate the wedding budget appropriately.
What’s the difference between a wedding coordinator and a wedding planner?
The biggest difference is the amount of time that’s provided in the services. Coordinators make sure everything you’ve done up until they take over is in good shape. Hiring a coordinator to take over the month before your wedding gives them time to tweak any details and follow up on loose ends.
Wedding planners are all about the logistics, from vendor referrals and contract negotiation to day-of execution of your vision. Some planners also provide design or styling services, helping with the creative specifics of your wedding day.
What additional fees might the couple not expect?
Fees that may not be on the clients’ radar are service fees and after hours pick-up fees. Service fees may be added to the catering and/or bartending invoices. These are not considered gratuity or tips but rather expenses accumulated for the administrative and staff costs. As for after hours pick-up fees, some venues require all rentals and personal items to be removed at the end of the event, so that will require your rental staff to return at the end of the night to retrieve the rental items. In our current environment, I’ve additionally been educating my clients on inflation and how it has affected the wedding industry.
