Tis the season to look fabulous, but between the frigid weather, late nights and stress, the holidays can sometimes wreak havoc on our skin! We enlisted the help of our trusted Austin wedding beauty pros to give us the scoop on getting swoon-worthy skin just in time for your festivities. Read on for their expert tips and tricks:

With the weather being cloudy, it can be tempting to ditch your sunscreen routine. Don’t do it! Make it impossible to forget it by switching to a tinted moisturizer or BB cream with SPF. Our favorite for light coverage is Coola – it won’t break you out while giving you a dewy glow and protecting your delicate skin from the sun.

Get a jump start on your New Year’s resolutions! If you are planning to start a fitness program or instill a new habit, start now! That workout will make you feel amazing in the midst of cookie-swaps and holiday parties. Knowing how good it felt during a more stressful time will make you more likely to keep going once things slow down. It’s never too early (or too late) to kick some booty. – Lavish Beauty ATX

Find a go-to liquid lipstick in your favorite holiday shade. Most liquid lipsticks are known for their extra long staying power. A great statement lip can pull any look together, even when you are short on time. Try a Lip Whip from Beauty Bakerie. Mon Cheri is a beautifully velvet red for the holidays that will even last through that midnight New Year’s kiss.

Soft waves always look festive. Use a 1″ curling iron or wand to curl all of your hair in sections about 1″ x 1″ (Hint: curling away from your face is usually more flattering). Gently brush curls from top to bottom. This will soften the curls and blend them together in glamorous waves. Finish with a little shine serum like Oi Oil by Davines and a light hairspray to keep everything in place. – flAir Style Lounge

Biotin is a miracle vitamin supplement for hair and skin. Take one 5,000 mg tablet daily and be sure to take regularly. It’s also a natural energy booster which is perfect for the holiday season!

Don’t start your morning until you’ve put on moisturizer with SPF in it, and don’t say goodnight without using a cream with Hyaluronic Acid, it will improve wrinkles and help keep the skin from aging. – MyStyleTeam

Give yourself a little extra holiday glow with a pop of highlight! My favorite highlighter just happens to have the perfect color name for ringing in the new year: Jacylin Hill Champagne Pop by Becca. Apply to the top of your cheekbones, bridge of your nose, inner corner of your eyes, top of your brow bones, and a little on your cupids bow for that perfect glow.

Holiday time is a great time to try a bolder red matte lip. I recommend exfoliating your lips with Lush Lip Scrub before applying any lip color. This will help give your lips a nice, smooth surface. Then apply your favorite red liquid to matte lip color for a long lasting look. – Jessica Roop Beauty & Boudoir

Limit salt and alcohol intake and be sure to drink lots of water. Take care to wash all makeup off before going to bed. Try to sneak in a quick 20 minute workout when you can and don’t forget the most important meal of the day – breakfast!

This season smooth, shiny hair shapes are on trend. Be creative in ways you can accessorize. For example, simple hairstyles look amazing with great headpieces. – Pepper Pastor

Everything can get so hectic throughout the holiday season so one of my biggest tips to take on the holidays is to give yourself a break! With stressful days of work, running last minute errands and a schedule packed full of social events, it’s imperative to take some time out for yourself.

When you do apply makeup, be sure focus on one facial feature you want to make the center of attention. Clean, fresh skin pairs nicely with a bold lip color, defined brows and highlighted skin are a nice combo and you can’t go wrong with a classic smokey eye with a nude lip. Anything covered in glitter instantly makes me happy. Adding a touch to the center of the eyelid or going full force with Pat McGrath inspired lips boosts my spirit. Be sure to save some leftover Scotch tape from wrapping presents to lift away any fallout! – Cren de la Cren, Beauty by Katherine Crenshaw
