Planned by Kristin Catter Events, McCayla and Daniel’s al fresco wedding is picture-perfect from start to finish! The Contemporary Austin – Laguna Gloria was the perfect setting for this weddingscape, and design around the venue included a tasteful blending of dried design and fresh florals as well as trendy arch details in a muted spring palette. With its outdoor locale and lush green landscape, the whole affair has a European-inspired al fresco feel to it all. McCayla walked down the aisle to a live string quartet playing The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.” She and Daniel exchanged vows as the sun was setting overlooking Lady Bird Lake. The bride’s brother was the wedding officiant, and his marrying them made their ceremony all the more special. Afterward, they snuck away to take a few pictures, but their planner Kristin Catter Events was looking out for the newlyweds while guests were enjoying cocktail hour, and she brought them some of the amazing appetizers by Royal Fig Catering to munch on. From what we hear, the reception was a lively affair, characterized by a few special touches as a nod to both the bride and groom’s cultural backgrounds. “I am Scottish and my husband is Colombian, and we wanted to incorporate elements from both of our backgrounds,” McCayla said. “To bring in a touch of Scotland, we had a bagpipe player welcoming our guests at the entrance of the venue. At the reception, we had a Colombian-style dance party and celebrated with their classic hits.“ So many sweet details show McCayla and Daniel’s personalities throughout their tasteful al fresco wedding at Laguna Gloria. Read on for a note from the bride about one of her favorite wedding memories involving her mom and a sweet moment they shared in memory of her late grandmother. Cheers to the Velillas!

From the bride: “My sister and I surprised my mom with a live Monarch butterfly release. Monarch butterflies remind my mom of my grandmother (we called her Nana) who has passed. Every time we see one it is a sweet memory of her presence. I wanted to have a special moment with my mom before I walked down the aisle, and this is a memory we will all cherish forever.”
