Eclectic Austin Wedding Captured by Marisa Vasquez Photography | Jamie + Karey

SWEET BEGINNINGS: When Karey, a filmmaker, was shooting a promotional video, a mutual friend invited Jamie along to be an extra. Karey was filming the video and the two briefly interacted. Jamie thought he was cute, but his flirting efforts went way over her head. They left that day only knowing each other’s names. A few months later, the pair bumped into one another during Austin City Limits and spent the rest of the festival falling in love while listening to their favorite bands.

PERFECT PROPOSAL: Karey told Jamie that he had a rehearsal he needed to attend. He persuaded her to go with him, and she ended up volunteering to help with the lighting. Next thing she knew, Jamie was standing in the middle of a dark stage when a TV popped up in front of her telling her to, “Look here.” A pre-recorded music video Karey had filmed and edited himself began playing, and Jamie immediately knew what was about to happen. Karey came in partway through and danced his way to her – so sweet and nerdy! He popped the question there. They celebrated with an ice cream party with family and friends.

ECLECTIC ELEGANCE: Jamie wanted a wedding that was eclectic and elegant, but still very true to the couple’s style. She wanted their family to feel like they were in an extension of their home enjoying an evening with them as they exchanged vows. Above all, they wanted their wedding to glorify God and celebrate His faithfulness in their lives. They chose hues of blush, maroon, green, navy and beige to complete the look.

SAYING I DO: Jamie’s dad walked her down the aisle, then turned around and married them. The bride’s dad is a pastor and has married all of his children. Jamie loved that their relationship had truly come full circle. He raised her, provided for her and now he was giving her away to marry the man of her dreams.
