SWEET BEGINNINGS: Although officially introduced at a friend’s house while watching the Longhorns win the College Football National Championship, Julie and Brent continued to bump into each other over the next few months. Masterminded by Brent’s roommate, the two were set up on a double date later that fall where they quickly became inseparable. Unfortunately, life got in the way a few times. Brent moved to Houston, Julie moved to Silicon Valley and then Los Angeles, but even with thousands of miles between them, they always ended up turning to each other. By the beginning of 2013, Brent was once again in Austin. A little older and a lot wiser, the couple built an amazing life together in the city where they fell in love.
PERFECT PROPOSAL: Brent proposed on May 31, 2014, at the end of an epic 6-mile hike in the Greenbelt. He found a secluded overlook with a fantastic view off the couple’s favorite trail. Julie asked Brent multiple times if he was serious, all while sporting the biggest smile he had ever seen.
BOHEMIAN DESERT DANCE PARTY: While the couple wanted a cohesive look for their wedding, they also had an eclectic vision for an event that evolved throughout the night. The ceremony was natural and romantic, held right before sunset underneath a 100-year-old pecan tree. Cocktail hour featured a Flash Tat station and teepee. For dinner, they turned the ballroom boho with dip-dyed linens, agate place cards, succulents and free-form flowers. They ended the night in the open-air pavilion with a desert-inspired dance party.
VENDOR LOVE: Julie and Brent wanted to have the ceremony and reception all in one place and not too far from downtown Austin. The Barr Mansion had multiple unique spaces the couple was able to tailor to fit their vision.
SPECIAL TOUCHES: Julie thought it would be fun to have a Flash Tat bar at the cocktail hour, but wasn’t sure how popular it would be. Much to the couple’s liking, it ended up being a huge hit. The bridesmaids showed people how to apply them, and even the guys got in to it!
