When should I get my bridal portraits done?

would say no later than 90 days prior to the wedding or as soon as you get your gown back. That way you have time to see your full bridal look and make any changes that you see necessary. I had a bride change her whole hair and makeup combo after her bridal portraits.

What are a few photographer pro-tips you wish every bride knew before taking bridal portraits?

Bring at least two other people with you. You’ll have people to help you with your gown, touch ups, veil and accessories as you’re being photographed. Wear comfortable shoes during your session. You’ll be walking around quite a bit, and it’ll be the first time you’re really moving in your gown for an extended period of time. Feel free to bring the shoes you’ll wear on your wedding day, but bring a spare so you aren’t putting extra strain on your feet. Don’t forget to ask your florist to make your test bouquet for your shoot, and schedule an appointment with your hair and makeup artist about a week prior to the shoot so you can discuss changes. If you happen to color your hair, get it done about two weeks prior to the shoot date so it can fade and look a bit more natural.

Why should I get bridal portraits done?

Having a bridal session gives you that extra time to get used to the idea of being in front of a camera lens, while also shaking off some of those wedding day nerves. You’re going to spend anywhere from four to eight hours in your gown and in front of a camera lens. It will also save you time on the wedding day. Having bridal portraits done before the big day allows you to focus more on getting pictures taken with your family, friends, and of course – your groom! Bridal portraits are a time-honored tradition. Imagine seeing your photos next to your mom’s and grandmother’s, as well as any other female members of your family.

How can a bride look her best and feel beautiful while getting her bridal portraits done?

Remember, this is your gown for your special day. This is your opportunity to rock every beautiful bit of you. Your groom’s jaw will drop – not just because you look gorgeous, but because you’re about to be his wife. At the end of the day, you’re going to be married to your best guy ever. Plus, the more you rock it the more your confidence will show through your gown, makeup and hair.
