Happy Tuesday! We’re thrilled to introduce you to another fabulous Austin wedding planner today: Melanie McKinley of Mayhar Design! Melanie immersed herself in the wedding industry 11 years ago in New York City, working under David Beahm as a planning assistant and seamstress. When she moved back to Texas six years later, she founded Mayhar Design with her sister and their full-service design and planning boutique was born! Melanie and her sister, Ashleigh, offer a range of wedding planning services from creative direction and design to full planning.
Melanie believes wholeheartedly in four main principles when it comes to her business: honesty, beauty, faith and generosity. Mayhar Design operates with a heart of service and want their clients to not only feel loved and appreciated, but that their expectations are being exceeded. “It’s our sincerest hope that each person who crosses our path feels nurtured, confident and joyous through each step along the way. The Mayhar style tends to lean towards a classic, tailored look, with unexpected pops of pattern and color, and attention to detail,” she says. “If I had to pick one favorite detail, I would say our use of color and pattern. When we set out designing, I knew that we wanted a really clean and soft, neutral palette. We chose varying shades of soft aqua and mint, and in order to make it pop, added in fabrics and design details with pattern and texture. It was important to me to keep the tones quiet, but I wanted to incorporate some unexpected detail and dimension, which I hope we accomplished through the stripes and patterns of the fabrics and finishes!”

“I adore weddings that are designed with a graceful, timeless elegance, and I always aim to take each client’s vision and infuse it with lasting sophistication and beauty in a way that truly represents their wishes and personalities,” Melanie shares. “Allison and James hand wrote mini love letters to each and every guest, which served as place cards at each place setting. As their wedding was extremely intimate, we felt that this would be a really special way to honor each guest and let them know their importance and impact in Allison and James’ lives.”
Melanie loves that in today’s weddings, everything is completely customizable. From your ceremony to reception, you can design every moment with your unique personalities in mind.
