Art Deco Austin Wedding from Barbara’s Brides Captured by Lauren Apel | Kelly + Presten
April 29
SWEET BEGINNINGS: Kelly and Presten were introduced by mutual friends. Presten was a gymnast at the University of Oklahoma, and one of Kelly’s best friends from high school was dating one of his teammates at the time. Kelly went to visit her friend and ended up on a double date with Presten. They were official the next day!
PERFECT PROPOSAL: Presten had driven from Oklahoma to visit Kelly in Houston. The two had been long distance for about a year and a half. He took her to her favorite spot in town and popped the question – so sweet and simple! The newly-engaged couple spent the rest of the night making brownies with Kelly’s mom and spending time with family.
HEIRLOOM INSPIRATION: Inspired by family heirlooms and antique photos, Kelly and Presten incorporated Art Deco and glam details into their wedding décor to create Kelly’s vision. Rich, velvety, jewel tones in burgundy and red mixed in with neutrals, dark blues, black and a touch of dove gray set the scene.
BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS: Stems Floral created a lush, organic bouquet for the bride, full of contrasting florals. Neutral blooms were mixed in with dark, velvety reds. The finished product was tied with a silk and willow ribbon wrapped around the stems. Kelly’s maid of honor also carried a bouquet, but the rest of her bridesmaids wore beautiful corsages. Stems made each corsage a little different, so they were each unique and truly a work of art. Each was tied with velvet ribbon.
