PERFECT PROPOSAL: Emily Davis and Kenton Boone met in 2012 on a sweet spring night in Austin. After two years of ice cream cones at Amy’s, hikes on Turkey Creek with a yellow lab named Spoonie, and hours eno-ing at Shoal Creek Park, the pair knew they would become a family. Kenton proposed with a handwritten storybook and a diamond ring beside the creek at one of their favorite escapes – Emily’s grandparent’s ranch.
THE SETTING: On October 26, 2014, Emily lived her dream by getting married at her granddad’s lake house on Lake Austin.
SAYING “I DO”: Wearing her grandmother’s diamond earrings and carrying a bouquet of white anemones and blush garden roses created by a friend, Emily smiled all the way down the lake house lawn to her groom while Emily’s sister sang Bon Iver’s “Holocene.” A kind autumn sun smiled on wedding guests and warmly hugged the bride and groom as they promised covenant love beneath the big cypress tree in the yard. After a champagne toast, everyone moved to the bride’s home church, Austin Christian Fellowship, for some Sunday evening merriment.
RUSTIC WEDDING: The rustic, old-fashioned picnic-themed reception enchanted guests and transported all to a simpler time. Friends and family transformed the church into a whimsical fairytale with mason jar candles sprinkled in the trees, bulb lights draped around the dance floor, mini pallet tables decorated with homemade flower arrangements and a naked cake made from scratch by friends.
FAB FESTIVITIES: Guests gobbled up Vitek’s barbecue and Blue Bell ice cream cups only to dance it off when Matchmaker Band turned up the tunes, but only after a surprise father-daughter dance to “Play That Funky Music White Boy.”
