Natalie never imagined that her college accounting class would be where she’d find true love. While she was working in Austin during the winter break of 2007, her friend threw a party that Esa just so happened to attend. His hair immediately caught her eye, prompting her to go up to him and asking a question that didn’t leave the best first impression. A few weeks later when school started, Natalie walked into her accounting class and saw Esa sitting in the front row. This time, she asked if he wanted to sit in the back with a few friends of hers…he gladly accepted. They bonded over the lessons of financial responsibility and a year later, on his 21st birthday he asked her on a date. Six years after they started dating the two were traveling off the coast of Malaysia to the Perhentian Islands. They were staying at a secluded sea turtle sanctuary where every night the researchers would wake up the residents to see mother turtles come lay their eggs on shore. Esa asked Natalie to marry him on the beach at sunset, and it was an easy decision. That night baby turtles were hatched right where Esa proposed — what a sign!
