Kelsey Cotten and Anthony Saputo’s Austin Wedding at Barr Mansion Captured by Mint Photography
SWEET BEGINNINGS: Kelsey was finishing her senior year at the University of Texas and decided to go out one night with friends. At the end of the night, Anthony walked up to her and offered to buy her a drink. They chatted a bit and exchanged numbers but the distance kept them from making much of the relationship. Four months later, Kelsey was heading to Tanzania for three months for her job. When one of her flights was delayed, she texted Anthony out of boredom. They ended up meeting for dinner and drinks, and totally hit it off. They spent the next three months exchanging emails every day until she got back and went on their official first date!
SETTING THE SCENE: Kelsey always wanted to get married outside, but the ever-changing Texas weather made her nervous to do something completely outdoors. Barr Mansion was the perfect mix of natural beauty both in and outdoors. They had the option to get married under the beautiful pecan tree on the property, have cocktail hour outside amongst the bluebonnets and gardens under strands of bistro lights, and have the reception in the artisan ballroom with its gorgeous wall of windows. They wanted to give their guests a truly Texan experience as many were traveling from out of state. The natural blooms, organic food and setting felt perfect.
BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS: Kelsey’s bouquet was a beautiful mix of spring blooms hand-tied into a loose, organic arrangement. Juliet garden roses, white astilbe, quicksand roses, white peonies, Keira garden roses, blush ranunculus and pink clematis were used throughout the bouquet with a base of jasmine vine, bay laurel and hints of silver dollar eucalyptus.
CUTE COCKTAILS: One of Kelsey’s favorite parts of the night – even though she and Anthony didn’t get to experience it! – was cocktail hour. Signature cocktails and champagne were served along with delicious bacon-wrapped dates and pimento cheese on seeded crackers that were truly Texan appetizers. Annie from The Wells Makery hand-painted the most beautiful illustrated cocktail signs. A New Orleans-style brass band played fun, festive songs as guest mingled and signed the guest book. Anthony requested a cigar bar so guests were treated to hand-rolled cigars and matchbooks with the wedding crest.
